MATERIALS LIST

  1. Hook - Daiichi 1150, Mustad 80200BR, Orvis 8891, Partridge LO56, Tiemco 2457. Size 10 to 14.

  2. Thread - Grey 8/0 Uni Thread.

  3. Tail - Grey partridge body feather barbs.

  4. Shell Back - Scud Back.

  5. Eyes - Small plastic eyes.

  6. Legs - Grizzly saddle hackle.

  7. Body - Light grey sparkle dubbing.

TYING INSTRUCTION

    Insert a hook in the vise and build a good thread base well into the hook's bend to the hook's eye.

  1. Tail - Attach 6 to 8 partridge barbs well into the hook's bend about equal in length to the hook's shank.

  2. Eyes - Attach the eyes with figure eight wraps of tying thread slightly ahead of the tail tie in point. Attach the shell back material behind the eyes with tying thread.

  3. Body - Form a thin dubbing noodle on the tying thread. Dub the space between the eyes and the tail. Dub the area over and under the eyes with figure eight wraps. Tie in the leg hackle immediately at the front of the eyes and dub the remaining portion of the body.

  4. Legs - Palmer the leg hackle forward (no more than 4 turns)to normal head space. Secure with tying thread and trim the excess hackle.

  5. Shell Back - Pull the back material to the hooks eye directly on top of the fly and secure with tying thread. Trim the excess back material, whip finish and cement.
