  5. Wing - A pair of teal flank feathers.

  6. Hackle - Webbed olive saddle.

  7. Head - Black tying thread.

TYING INSTRUCTION

  1. Begin - Insert hook in vise and cover the entire hook shank with olive tying thread.
  2. Hackle - Attach and wrap 3 to 5 turns of soft webbed olive saddle hackle. Secure with tying thread, build a tapered head with tying thread, whip finish, and cement.

  3. Tail - With tying thread tie in a sparse clump of teal flank feather fibers even with the hook's point about 1/4 hook shank in length. Trim excess close.

  4. Body - Trim one end of the "Skinny S'getti" to an angle and tie in on top of the hook's shank 1/4 inch behind the hook's eye. Secure to the top of the hook shank with tying thread rearward to the tail tie in point. With close wraps wind the material forward to about 3/16 inch behind hook's eye and secure with tying thread. Trim the butt close. Taper the area at the front of the body material with tying thread in order to keep the wing from lifting away from the body .

  5. Wing - Prepare two opposing teal flank feathers to a length that when attached at the front of the fly's body will be slightly proud of the tail. Trim the wing feather stem butts close after attachment.

  6. Hackle - Attach and wrap 3 to 5 turns of soft webbed olive saddle hackle. Secure the tip with tying thread and trim close.

  7. Head - Build a tapered head with tying thread, whip finish, and cement.

HISTORY AND ADDITIONAL NOTES

"Skinny S'getti" gives the transparent/translucent appearance of many bait fishes as well as the sparkle of the embedded metal flakes. I fished the RB Streamer and two variations in the Snake River Nov. 18 using a very fast sinking line. I landed three fish from 12" to 22" in cold overcast conditions. Some things you just know will work. I believe bucktail or marabou will work very well for the wing.
