MATERIALS LIST

  1. Hook - Daiichi 1130, 1140, 1150, Mustad 800250BR, Orvis 1639, Tiemco 2457, 2487, 206BL. Size 10 to 18.

  2. Thread - Black 6/0

  3. Bead - Gold sized for hook.

  4. Tail - Mallard dyed wooduck.

  5. Body/Thorax - Peacock herl.

  6. Wing - Mallard dyed woodduck.

TYING INSTRUCTION

  1. Head - Slip a 1/8"(3.175 mm) bead onto the hook to the hook's eye, Insert the hook into the vise, secure the tying thread to the hook's shank and build an evenly wrapped thread base from the rear of the bead to the hook's bend. Return the tying thread to the rear of the bead. Immediately at the rear of the bead tie in a small mallard dyed wood duck feather with the tips over the hook's eye. Wind the tying thread to the hook's bend.

  2. Tail - Tie in a smallish sized clump of mallard dyed wood duck about 1/2 hook's shank length. Trim the excess close.

  3. Body/Thorax - Tie in 3 to 6 peacock herl (depending on hook size). Twist the peacock around the tying thread 5 or 6 times, grasp the peacock and the tying thread with the thumb and index finger and wrap the body/thorax to within 2 turns of the rear of the bead, relocate the mallard feather to the rear of the fly and finish winding the peacock, over the mallard feather,to the rear of the bead head. Secure the peacock with tying thread and whip finish.

  4. Wing - Trim the mallard dyed wood duck feather to approximately 1/3 body length.

  5. ADDITIONAL NOTES
