  6. Body - Standard Royal Coachman. Peacock herl, dubbing, peacock herl.

  7. Legs (Optional) - 5 or 6 brown ring neck pheasant tail fibers.

TYING INSTRUCTION

  1. Bead Head - Slip the gold bead over the hook's point to the hook's eye.

  2. Insert the hook into the vise, attach the thread, and build a good thread base.

  3. Wing - Tie in 3 strands of pearl Krystal Flash, with tips over hook's eye, immediately behind the bead. Trim the butts.

  4. Tail - Attach 4 or 6 ring neck pheasant tail fibers at hooks bend. Trim the butts.

  5. Body and Wing - Tie a standard Royal Coachman body and when the front peacock portion is being wrapped pull the tips of the Krystal Flash to the rear of the fly and secure with the peacock. Trim the K-Flash wing to a length equal to the rear or the dubbing portion of the body. If legs are not used whip finish and cement.

  6. Legs - If legs are used, tie in immediately behind the bead head, tips to the point of the hook, trim the butts, whip finish and cement.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

Tying in the K-Flash wing behind the bead with the tips over hook's eye keeps the bead from sliding around and makes for a much easier tie. I vary the color of the fly by changing the dubbing color. Variations in dubbing color that have proven effective are caddis green, olive, and chartreuse. The green and red variations catch Browns as well as Cutts and 'Bows.
