MATERIALS LIST

  1. Hook - Tiemco 206BL, 2457, Daiichi 1150, Mustad 800200BR, Orvis 8891, Eagle Claw LO56. Size 10-16.

  2. Thread - Black 6/0.

  3. Tail - White antron.

  4. Abdomen - Blood red turkey biot.

  5. Gills - White antron.

  6. Thorax - Peacock herl.

  7. Head - Black metal or glass bead.

TYING INSTRUCTION

  1. Head - Slip on the black bead, insert the hook in the vise and build a good thread base.

  2. Tail - Tie in a few strands of white antron at the hook's bend about 1/8th hook's shank length.

  3. Abdomen - Tie in a blood red turkey biot by the tip and wrap forward to 2/3rds hook's shank. Secure with tying thread and trim the excess.

  4. Gills - Tie in a few strands of white antron (about 3/4" long) perpendicular to the hook's shank with figure 8 tying thread wraps 1/2 way between the bead and abdomen.

  5. Thorax - Tie in 2-3 peacock herl and wrap to the bead. a couple of figure 8 wraps of herl around the wing covers this area nicely. Secure with tying thread, trim the excess, whip finish and cement if you like. Trim the antron gills short.
