MATERIALS LIST

  1. Hook - Any 2X or 3X streamer hook.

  2. Thread - Black 6/0.

  3. Tail - Buck tail.

  4. Wing - Buck tail.

TYING INSTRUCTION

The Hi-Tie bucktail is very simple to tie and Jerry has perfect proportions in this tie. Starting at the hook's bend tie in a one and one half hook's shank length tail and carefully cover the butts. Advance the tying thread and tie in another bunch of buck tail etc etc. Run a bead of head cement along the thread on the bottom of the hook's shank. Keep the wing segments evenly divided and sparse to produce a very beautiful but simple tie.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

Soda Springs, Idaho tier Jerry Berg contributes the Green Hi-Tie Bucktail. Jerry's application is as a Steelhead dressing but the need for another tie in the streamer section was just too overwhelming. The Hi-Tie streamer lends itself to an almost endless variety of color combinations and produces well as a steelhead or trout offering. Dick Nelson's Aztec and the Hi-Tie have many similarities but I suspect the Hi-Tie is much older.
