MATERIALS LIST

  1. Hook - Any 3XL hook, I used an Eagle claw 92672.
  2. Hackle - Hen hackle sized according to hook size.

  3. Thread - 6/0 mono black but any color to match feather.

  4. Body,Tail,Wings - I used the breast or rump feather off my Military Macaw, Duck or turkey would work well (if you don't happen to have a Macaw)

TYING INSTRUCTION

  1. Choose a feather to match size of hook.

  2. Tie in the thread about 1/8 back from eye of hook.

  3. Decide on tail length.

  4. Stroke remaining fibers out then to the butt of stem.

  5. Hold feather fibers to length of body that looks correct to hook size and tie in at that point.

  6. Decide which wing position that you want, either cocked or spent.

  7. If cocked tie wings in upright position. If spent divide fibers in half and tie in with the figure eight stye.

  8. Pinch the feather up about 45* from hook.
