- Hook - Daiichi 1150, Orvis 8891, Mustad 800200BR, Tiemco 2457 Size 10
- Thread - Black 6/0
- Body - Pink "Plastic Chenille"
- Legs - White rooster saddle
- Shell Back - "Scud Back"
- Head - Tying thread
TYING INSTRUCTION
- Insert the hook into the vise and build a 1 layer thread base from the hook's eye to the hook's bend.
- Body - Tie in the hackle, scud back material and the Plastic Chenille at the same point near the hook's bend. Wrap the plastic chenille to the front of the fly and secure with tying thread. Trim the excess plastic chenille.
- Legs - Palmer the hackle feather to the front of the body, secure with tying thread and trin the excess hackle butt. Trim the hackle barbules from the top of the fly.
- Shell Back - Pull the "Scud Back" material to the front of the body,tight to the body material, and secure with tying thread.
- Head - Build a tapered tying thread head, whip finish and cement if you like.
NOTES
The Boiler maker is difficult to place in the Still Water Section of this pattern book. The fly is used in the tail race of Palisades Reservoir Dam on Idaho's Snake River.
