TYING INSTRUCTION

  1. Insert the hook in the vise, secure the tying thread and completely cover the hook into the bend with the tying thread base.

  2. Butt - Make sure the rear of the thread base covers the hook wire.

  3. Abdomen - Prepare a thin tapered dubbing noodle on the tying thread. Begin wrapping the abdomen at the hooks bend (leave a decent red butt showing) and progress to 3/4 of the the hook's shank.

  4. Under Wing - Arrange two to five (depending on the amount of floatation required) CDC feathers so the tips are even and attach with tying thread at the front of the abdomen on the fly's top. Extend the wing 1/2 of abdomen length beyond the hook's bend. Trim the excess CDC close

  5. Over Wing - Attach approximately 1/2 of a single strand of Chartreuse sparkle yarn with tying thread over the CDC wing. Trim the over wing to approximately 1/4 under wing length.

  6. Thorax - Fashion a thin dubbing noodle on the tying thread of the same dubbing as the used for the abdomen. Cover the wing tie in thread wraps with the thorax dubbing forwad to the rear of normal space.

HISTORY AND ADDITIONAL NOTES

This is my first entry into the CDC realm. The entire US has exellent populations of small green, black, and brown stoneflys and this pattern, in colors to match local bugs, will serve very well for all these species. Sure works well in Idaho and Montana!
