MATERIALS LIST
- Hook - Daiichi 1750, Daiichi 2220, Mustad 79580, Eagle Claw 1197 BF, Size 4 and up.
- Thread - 3/0 Monochord to match rabbit strip color.
- Weight - .020 Lead wire.
- Adhesive - Any flexible quick drying thick consistancy rubber latex type cement. Barge Cement works well.
- Body / Wing - Stripped Rabbit.
- Sides - 2 strands of Krystal Flash.
- Eye - Dolls eyes, Stick on, Lead Eyes.
TYING INSTRUCTION
- Secure hook in the vice and build a good thread base.
- Weight - Apply 20 wraps .020" lead wire to the front 1/3 of the hook's shank.
- Tail - Wing - The Underside - Remove the hook from the vise and poke the hook's point through the rabbit strip. The front of the rabbit strip extends to slightly ahead of the front of the lead wire and the tail is equal to the length of the hook's shank. Secure with tying thread at the front of the lead wire. Leave plenty of head space.
- Tail/Wing - The Top Side - Secure a strip of rabbit of equal length to the bottom strip at the front of the lead wire and flop the top rabbit strip forward over the eye of the hook.
- Glue Together - Pull the bottom rabbit strip tight from the tail end and carefully apply a thin coat of adhesive to the hide side.
- Pull the top rabbit strip to the rear and press onto the bottom strip and hold for several seconds.
- If lead eyes are used attach now, build a head, whip finish and cement. If dolls eyes are used build a head, whip finish, and cement. Then glue the eyes to each side of the fly behind the head.
