TYING INSTRUCTION
- Epoxy or super glue the 3D eyes into the depression in the Sea Eyes.
- Eyes - Attach the eyes to the top of the hook's shank about 1/2" (12mm) behind the hook's eye with tying thread.
- Under Body -Attach the strands of tinsel in on top of the hook's shank, insert rattle into the piece of Corsair tubing and tie in by both ends on top of hook's shank. Coat the rattle with a light coat of 5 minute epoxy mixed with glitter. Let the epoxy set before continuing.
- Over Body - Attach a sparse 5" (12cm) piece of white synthetic hair on top of the hook's shank and a sparse 5" (12cm) piece of black hair on the bottom of the hook's shank in front of the eyes. Whip finish and cut the tying thread.
- Head - Coat the front of the fly from the hooks eye rearward to about 1/2 the eyes with 5 min. epoxy and rotate until dry.
- When the Epoxy head has set form a loop in a piece of mono with a couple of overhand knots, slide the mono loop over the hair to about 3 (8cm) inches behind the eyes and tighten the knot to form a tail. Trim the excess mono and secure the knot with super glue or head cement. Trim the tail to make the overall length of the fly about 4" (10cm).
*JERALD'S NOTES*
I was fishing last fall down the Jersey shore when a surf fisherman came along and started throwing a cast net for some live bait. I wasn't having much luck so I watched a bit and then went over to talked with him. He showed me that he was catching small bunker that fit into the palm of my hand. The Maybe Bunker fly is the result. I tied a couple of prototypes during the week. The following weekend I was on the rip rap early, and missed a couple of nice fish before losing the prototypes in the rocks. Basically I was casting the "Bunker", letting it sink and stripping at varying rates.
