MATERIALS LIST
- Hooks - Daiichi 2441. Mustad 36890. Partridge "M". Orvis 1645. Tiemco 7999. Eagle Claw "A". Size 2 to 10.
- Low Water Hooks - Daiichi 2421. Mustad 90240. Partridge "N". Orvis 1644. Tiemco 7989. Size 2 to 8.
- Thread - Black 12/0 Uni-Thread.
- Tail - Rooster ringneck pheasant tail feather fibers.
- Body - Black and yellow antron (Lure Flash Antron Body Wool) twisted with 2 strands of black "Krystal Flash".
- Hackle - Webby brown chicken rooster or hen saddle.
- Head - Black tying thread.
TYING INSTRUCTION
- Insert a hook in the vise, attach the thread and build a good thread base.
- Tail - Tie in slightly in front of the hooks bend 6 to 8 rooster pheasant tail fibers.
- Body - At the tail tie off point tie in 1/2 strand each of black and yellow "Lure Flash" plus 2 strands of black K-Flash. Twist the body concoction in a counter-clockwise direction and wrap forward to normal head space. Secure with tying thread and trim the excess.
- Hackle - Prepare and tie in a webby brown saddle hackle and wrap 2 or 3 turns. Secure with tying thread and trim the excess.
- Head - Build a tapered head, whip finish and cement.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
This variation of the Brindle Bug adds a touch of flash and a thin body for difficult fish in low water conditions. Often on Idaho's Salmon River the Twisted Brindle is added as the point fly 16" to 18" below a skating pattern on a floating line.
