- Thorax - Attach a one fourth inch wide strip of blue closed cell foam at the body tie in point on top of the hook with the loose end over the hook's bend. Turn the hook upside down in the vise and repeat the step for as for the top half of the thorax.
- Wing - With tying thread attach 30 to 40 stacked elk hairs at the front of the bottom thorax strip and trim the butts close.
- Lower Thorax - Divide the elk hair, pull the lower thorax strip through the elk hair, secure with tying thread at the rear of normal head space and trim the excess.
- Upper Thorax - Right the hook, pull the upper thorax foam strip to the front of the fly and secure with tying thread at the rear of normal head space. Trim the excess.
- Head - Build a tapered head with tying thread, whip finish and cement if you like.
NOTES
This blue damsel adult pattern is merely an adaptation of the Foam Stone with new material for the twisted body extension. The pattern produces well on rivers and stillwater where damsel flies are present. One version replaces the lower foam strip with dubbing, the elk hair is tied on top of the fly, divided and covered with the top foam strip and is very much easier to tie.
