MATERIALS LIST

  1. Hook - 1 extra short 2 extra stout. Daiichi 1530. Mustad 3908. Orvis 1641. Tiemco 3769. Size 6 - 14.

  2. Bead - Gold metal two sizes larger than normal.

  3. Thread - Brown 6/0.

  4. Head - Chartreuse dubbing.

  5. Tail - Brown maribou

  6. Body - "Canadian Series" brown angora dubbin or mohair yarn

TYING INSTRUCTION

  1. Insert a hook in the vise, secure the thread to the hook and build good thread base.

  2. Head - Build a head with chartreuse dubbing about the same size as the gold bead then tie off and cut the tying thread.

  3. Bead - Remove the hook from the vise and slide the bead against the dubbed head and re-attach the tying thread at the hook's bend.

  4. Tail - At the hook's bend tie in a medium sized clump of brown maribou and trim the butts close.

  5. Body - When using Angora Dubbing form a dubbin loop at the rear of the fly in front of the tail. Twist in the angora dubbing and wrap forward to rear of the bead, secure with tying thread, whip finish at the rear of the bead and cement if you like. Pick out the angora fibers for that fuzzy look.

  6. Another Body - When using "Canadian Series" brown mohair yarn tie in the yarn at the rear of the fly in front of the tail and wrap forward to rear of the bead, secure with tying thread, whip finish at the rear of the bead and cement if you like. Pick out the mohair fibers for that fuzzy look. That's All Folks!!!

HISTORY AND ADDITIONAL NOTES

The BB Leech is a jig without lead. The chartreuse head was added to keep the large bead from slipping over the hook's eye. Another accident that went the right way!
