shotgun. He was standing with the shotgun under his arm when dad kicked the butt of the gun and it went off. He was only 17 when he died.

He was a large man and couldn't communicate with you, but was happy to see us when we visited him in the nursing home in Pomona. He was a very choice spirit. I (Li Ann Lee) was a teenager when he died. I was not allowed to go to his funeral.

GEORGE H. HOBBS
George Henry Hobbs, 84-year-old former Rupert resident, passed away Wednesday in Provo, Utah.
He was born April 26, 1880 at Prairie View, Kans., and was married in Kansas to Cora Granville Dec. 12, 1906. The couple later separated. On May 28, 1936 he was married to Lillith M. Snapp at Rupert. Hobbs went to Driggs, Idaho, in 1916 from Kansas and operated the Driggs Feed and Grain store. After coming to Rupert, he worked for the Bureau of Reclamation. He became a member of the LDS church in 1914 and had been an active member throughout the years.
He is survived by his widow, Lillith Hobbs of Logan, where the couple moved recently; one son, George O. Hobbs of Riverside, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Leila E. Young of Rupert and Mrs. Thelma Harper of Redlands, Calif.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; five stepchildren, Mrs. Don (Ursula) Gibson of Salt Lake City, Nathan J. Snapp, Escondido, Calif., Mrs. Verl (Gladys) Henrie of Preston, Idaho, Oral Snapp of Oakley, Utah, and Mrs. Doris Broadhead of Rupert; 27 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great- randchildren; one brother, William A. Hobbs, Woodruff, Kans.
Funeral services are pending at Walk Mortuary.

Rites Honor George Hobbs
RUPERT, April 14 -- Funeral services for George Henry Hobbs were conducted Saturday in the Ruper ward LDS church by Bishop George E. Neilson.
Verl Henrie gave the family prayer at the mortuary. Mrs. Thelma Widmier was organis, Joe Olenslager was the invocation and Bishop Neilson gave the obituary.
Mr. and Mrs. Jay Williams sag a duet, accompanied by Mrs. Widmier and Kathleen Stocks was accompanist for a duet presented by Mr. and Mrs. Ned Stocks.
A quartet including Jay Williams, Robert Catmull, Thelma Williams and Aleene Humphries sang, accompanied by Mrs. Widmier. Albert Young gave the benediction.
Pallbearers included Reed Broadhead, LaVern Mongomery, Leo Pearson, Albert Harrison, O. W. Garrett and Robert Snapp.
Flowers were arranged by members of the Rupert ward Relief society with Mrs. Leigh Ingersoll, president.
Concluding rites were held in the Rupert cemetery with Robert Harper giving the dedicatory prayer.

RUPERT, IDAHO -- Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Rupert, for Mrs. Cora Hobbs, 74, who died Wednesday in a Rupert hospital after a short illness. Born Dec. 4, 1882 in Jamestown, Kan. Married to George H. Hobbs, Dec 12, 1906 in Prairie View, Kan. He preceded her in death. Member LDS Church. Lived in Driggs and Rupert. Survivors; son, George Orrin, Rupert; daughters: Mrs. Leila E. Young, Rupert; Mrs. Thelma Harper, Santa Cruz, Calif; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister. Burial was in Rupert Cemetery under direction of Goodman Cemetery.
Note: The above obituary indicates that George H. Hobbs preceded her in death. That is incorrect as he did not die until April 10, 1965.

Yucaipa ResidentRichard Darrell Harper, 53, died Saturday at Braswell's Hampton Manor in Yucaipa.
Harper, a native of Altadena, lived in Yucaipa for four years.
He held various jobs throughout the years.
Survivors included his son, Cody Eric of Calimesa; his daughter, Wendy Rene Drysdale of Calimesa; his father, Robert of Twin Falls, Idaho; his sisters, Li Anne Lee of Twin Falls, and Dawn Lamar of Denver; and six grandchildren.
Visitation and services will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at Aaron Chapel, 24684 Barton Road, Loma Linda. Inurnment will be private.
BURIAL: He was cremated and his ashes are be interred at Desert Lawn in Calimesa, California.

He owned the stage coach line that ran between Portland, Oregon and Boise, Idaho. He was an Indian Agent around the Walla Walla, Washington area. John Calloway owned a butcher shop at Baker, Oregon with a stage line. He bought a span of horses which was used to be the towns supplier an they would pull the fire wagon. If the horses heard the bell go off at the fire house, they would be ready to take off.
Because her death occurred shortly after the birth of her last child, we believe that she died from complications of child birth or hemmorage.
The exact cause of death is unknown.
