City Hall

The Buhl City Hall houses the clerks' office, police department, fire department and Twin Falls County License Bureau.

The City Clerk's office consists of the mayor, city council, clerk/ treasurer, deputy clerk, part-time cashier/clerk, building inspector and planning and zoning clerk. This office handles water billing, dog licensing, liquor permits, catering permits, fireworks permits, building permits, planning and zoning issues and the paperwork relating to the duties of the mayor and council. The regular council meeting is held the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Planning and Zoning meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of each month.

Police Department

The Buhl police department consists of eleven full-time employees; nine sworn officers and two civilian positions. There is a Chief of Police, a Lieutenant, two Sargeants, one Detective, four patrol officers, an officer manager and a Community Service Officer (CSO). The CSO is responsible for animal control, city code enforcement and various other duties. The department is Community Policing Oriented and supports various programs such as: Citizens on Patrol, Police Activities League, Foot Patrols, Problem Solving and Crime Prevention.

Fire Department

The fire department of Buhl relies on a bare minimum of full time staff. The staff is comprised of a few full-time individuals and a cadre of volunteers. Fire chief, Mark Grimes, relies on his brigade for all types of fires. The volunteer firefighters receive full training and respond willingly to each and every call they can. The department receives its' funding from local, state, and federal funds and even does their own fund-raising for new equipment. Several of the firefighters are also certified emergency medical technicians.

Quick Response Unit (Q.R.U.)

The members of the Buhl Quick Response Unit is comprised of volunteers who love helping others in the community. The members of this group receive no monetary rewards, but many personal rewards as they serve their community. Members must take classes on a regular basis to be certified as Emergency Medical Technicians, again at their own expense. They serve day and night, whenever they receive an emergency call. The Buhl Q.R.U. is a division of the Buhl Fire Department.

Civic Organizations

The City of Buhl is a community that believes in civic organizations. People are usually involved in one or more of the various groups. Some of the groups include: Kiwanis, Moose, Rotary, Buhl Lion's Club, Shriner's, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Cedar Draw and Deep Creek Granges, literary groups, Buhl Business and Professional Club, Beta Sigma Phi (Preceptor Chapter), Order of the Eastern Star, the American Legion, and many other individual groups for both students and adults.

Senior Citizens

The Buhl Senior Citizens are an active, enterprising group of individuals who keep their lives happy, healthy and interesting. The group has their own building where they provide inexpensive meals, dances, bingo, arts and crafts, and other activities. Members of this group also charter buses to attend events and go to places such as dinner in Jackpot, Nevada. A group of volunteers also deliver "Meals on Wheels" to homebound people of all ages.
