Buhl Public Library

The Buhl Public Library is located at 215 Broadway Avenue North, right next to the City Hall and Fire Station. The library was built in the 1950's, but underwent a major expansion in 1993. Library patrons number about 2,372 and are located both within and outside of Buhl city limits. City residents are able to use the library service without fees, but the people outside the city limits need to pay a minimal $21 per family to check out materials.

The library has many attractions including approximately 29,950 books and materials, an interlibrary loan service, a preschool story hour, a summer reading program, and two internet accessible computer stations for public use. In addition to these services, the Buhl Public Library also makes copies (10 cents each), provides state and federal tax forms, and plenty of willing help and guidance for its' patrons.

The library is open on Monday and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Hours on Tuesday and Thursday are from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and then again from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday hours are from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. The library is closed on Fridays and Sundays.

City Parks and Recreation

EASTMAN PARK: Development of this park began in 1911 when city founder, Frank H. Buhl, gave the land to be used as a park. The park is named in honor of Jess O. Eastman, a member of the Buhl Rotary Club. Eastman was known for his dedication to the development of the park and the swimming pool.

A Veterans Centennial Memorial Site, dedicated in July of 1990, is also found in Eastman Park. The site pays tribute to the 57 servicemen from the Buhl and Castleford areas who died during war.

The park is located two blocks from Main Street on Seventh Avenue North. It features a swimming pool, playgrounds, and picnic areas. The swimming pool is open to the public for a minimal charge during the summer months every year.

Mc CLUSKY PARK: This park is named after and dedicated to a pioneering physician, Dr. A. F. Mc Clusky, who served the people in the West End of Twin Falls County from 1908-1929. Dr. Mc Clusky dedicated his whole life to practicing medicine and to helping children. Visitors will find this park located across from Eastman Park.

NORTH PARK: This park is equipped with two softball diamonds and supports games from youth to the "old-timers." The park also has a picnic area with tables. This park is located on Sawtooth Avenue next to Buhl High School and the Buhl Track.

FARIS FIELD: This park provides two baseball diamonds and some tennis courts. Soccer players also take advantage of these fields each fall and spring. Faris Field also has a picnic area and a children's playground. The park is located on the corner of 14th Avenue North and Linden Street.
